Pompeii - The Exhibition

Creative Strategy, Exhibit Branding, Creative Direction, Production, Digital Campaign Execution

The Museum of Science and Industry, Chicago—one of the largest science museums in the world—is home to more than 400,000 square feet of hands-on exhibits designed to spark scientific inquiry and creativity. The museum was gearing up to one of their most dynamic installations illustrating the destruction of Pompeii, a Roman city destroyed by nature more than 1,900 years ago, that was preserved in a volcanic time capsule after the catastrophic eruption of Mount Vesuvius. They were provided standard materials from the production house in charge of the exhibit materials but they felt they didn’t express the emotion and energy that would intrigue their target audience to visit. I was tasked with working with with the few branded assets provide and develop an interesting visual campaign and message to spike visits and exhibit sales. A enhanced brand logo for the exhibition was crafted and new simplified visuals were designed to illustrate the power to match that of the volcanic eruption. Those new visuals were used to create an online campaign, outdoor and internal signage and for both print and digital delivery.
